Meet the Cheesemaker: Killeen Farmhouse Cheese

Join us for a special behind-the-scenes tour of Killeen Farmhouse Cheese in Portumna, Co. Galway — home to some of Ireland’s finest goat’s and cow’s milk cheeses.

Hosted by award-winning cheesemaker Marion Roeleveld, this guided visit will take you through the heart of her working goat farm and cheesemaking facility. Marion will share the story behind Killeen’s renowned cheeses, from their semi-hard goat’s cheese with fenugreek to their Kilmora, a cow’s milk cheese with large holes like in Emmental/Maasdam.

You’ll meet the goats, see how the farm uses its own pasture and feed for a fully traceable process, and discover the traditional methods behind every wheel of cheese. The tour concludes with a guided tasting of Killeen’s exceptional range — a true celebration of Irish artisan cheese.
