Meet the Cheesemaker; Michael Finegan Boyne Valley Farmhouse Cheese

Join us on Saturday 7th June at 11am for a tour and tasting at Boyne Valley Farmhouse Cheese with cheesemakers Michael and Jenny Finegan, as part of our Meet the Cheesemakers Series, proudly supported by Sheridans Cheesemongers.

Michael is a third-generation farmer based outside Slane in the heart of the Boyne Valley. Together with Jenny, the couple began their goat dairy journey in 2008 before establishing Boyne Valley Farmhouse Cheese in 2010. Today, they milk 250 goats and craft award-winning cheeses using milk straight from their herd.

The first cheese they created — Boyne Valley Blue — is a semi-hard blue goat’s cheese and was the first of its kind in Ireland. Since then, it has earned numerous awards across Ireland and the UK. In 2017, they launched Boyne Valley Bán, a white goat’s cheese inspired by Tomme-style French cheeses. It has since surpassed their original cheese in popularity, winning Gold and Best Irish Cheese at the British Cheese Awards and earning multiple stars at the Great Taste Awards.

This event includes a tour of the farm and cheesemaking facility, as well as a guided tasting of their signature cheeses.

Whether you’re a food enthusiast, chef, producer or simply curious to learn more about cheese production, this is a unique opportunity to meet the makers, hear their story, and taste the award-winning results in the beautiful Boyne Valley.
